AVM Productions, for the past 75 years has been synonymous with setting benchmarks in film production. The prestigious production house gets its passion for innovation, dedication and perseverance from its founding father, AV.Meiyappan who set up the first studio in 1945, with a vision of transforming the world of cinema with top class story telling styles. Over the decades, each member of the AVM family has kept up with that legacy, adapting it to changing times.

​With over 177 films in major regional languages, AVM production has introduced several super stars to the world of cinema. Be it the debut of Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan in Parasakthi, Kamal Haasan in Kalathur Kannama or the introduction of dubbing as a concept in the film Harischandra, AVM Productions has been the pioneer ever since it set up grounds in Madras in 1948. With a state of the art setup, AVM Productions not only houses several well equipped studio floors, but also recording, dubbing and preview theatres making the place a one stop destination for film makers all over. As observed by Peter Lowe, a noted American film personality, AVM Studios is one of the five studios in the world which has been functioning without a break for over 50 years.

The world of cinema and the cinema going audience is rapidly changing in the way they consume movies and AVM Productions understands this change, welcoming it as a medium to bring more films to the audience worldwide. One of our biggest releases in this aspect has been ‘Sivaji – The boss’ in 2007. A power packed Rajinikanth starrer film with the biggest names in the industry, Sivaji - the Boss went on the top not just national but also overseas markets becoming the first Tamil film to find a way into the UK Top-10 charts. Released simultaneously in India, UK, Europe, USA, Canada, the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, ‘Sivaji – The Boss’ set new benchmarks for theatrical realizations in every market segment.

It’s 3D release in 2012 by re-mastering the original to Dolby Atmos and post-converting to 3D format made Sivaji 3D to become the first Indian film to be launched with Dolby Atmos surround sound technology.

​Pioneering newer trends and technologies in Indian cinema and paving way for the future generation, AVM Productions also made its way into the World Wide Web with the first ‘Internet film’ to be released on YouTube - “Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum” in April 2014.
