About The French Door

Named after an antique door acquired from Pondicherry, we as a restaurant are committed to serving cuisine that is delectable yet warm. We are technique-driven and maintain the tradition of using freshest of ingredients and impeccable guest service.

Leading her chef brigade is Chef Shreeya Adka who graduated at the Culinary Institute of America, New York and has also gathered much of her expertise from working at a world famous three Michelin star restaurant at New York. Dining at The French Door is more than a meal. It is a story to be told, an experience to be shared. The epicurean roller coaster is all set to take off.

At The French Door, we let the ingredients speak for itself, creating food that will call one back for another meal. We source only the freshest of ingredients, with a majority of our produce and milk coming from our own farm at Mangarai, Coimbatore. In an age of shelf-lives and preservatives, fresh cuisine is the silver lining. Our breads, patties and puff pastries are all made in-house right from scratch. As a technique-driven restaurant, we constantly innovate to incorporate new methods and perfect old ones in our cooking. Sous-vide and slow-cooking are just to name a few. A focus on ingredient and technique has helped create the signature dishes that The French Door has become famous for.

We are a micro team of chefs who are constantly engaging with each other to surpass our own personal best. We are improvising constantly. Our ultimate goal is for a guest to feel welcome into our family. We focus on growing our team from the roots, developing a young generation of chefs and service executives who can explore the world of fine cuisine by providing them space to grow and contribute their ideas.

Pumpkin soup is a must try. The price list is on the expensive side. The ambiance was okay. Few dishes like pizza weren't available by the time I visited.

One of the finest restaurants that serves traditional Italian recipes in their menu. Their sticky coffee pudding was yum and the peri peri chicken pizza was tooooooo delicious. Their white sauce pasta was lil different than usual

Lovely experience. Although was sceptic with recent reviews.. have been craving to visit French Door since a long time... And as mentioned in other reviews Mr.Ganesh was kind enough to get/guide us some real good French cuisine... We tried to choose some old items based on previous reviews but unfortunately those were not available... We had Pumpkin soup, Garlic bread, Chicken Au Gratin, Creme Brulee... Boy oh boy it was a great and lovely experience..be it food, service and even the happiness of the taste buds.... The bread crumps and the chicken in chicken Au Gratin and the way it was baked in the sauce really made a huge difference and the way it melted all the way to the throat was yummy.... But it is a bit on the expensive side, but worth the money paid for the authentic French food that we had a chance to taste...

We have visited French door so many times that I’ve lost count. This is our go to place to get good Italian/French cuisine and possibly one of the only restaurants in coimbatore that really suits our taste. We have tried several menu items. The pizzas here are fantastic(chicken peri peri,chicken Margherita pizza, pesto burrata pizza). Our personal favorite is the chicken peri peri pizza. Pasta dishes are good but not the best I’ve had(still one of the good ones in coimbatore). Chicken bao is also pretty amazing. Others dishes we enjoyed were the roast chicken,chicken burger(quite decent). Desserts here are my absolute favourites. The cheesecake is out of the world and we come here regularly just to buy that alone. The tiramisu is also fantastic. Though buying both at the same time will not allow you to enjoy the cheesecake fully since the tiramisu flavour overpowers the one of the cheesecake. Other than these I also like the medovik and the orange and chocolate mousse(this is an acquired taste). There seems to have a menu change so some items that I liked seems to have been taken off the menu and new items added. So I’m excited to try all the new items. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone who likes to eat different items other than the usual South Indian cuisine !

Tried their dates almond citrus salad and hot chocolate (and a take away of sour dough grill cheese sandwich and pasta arabiata: only fettuccini was available). The attendants were quite friendly, wait was brief and service was prompt. Highly recommended. (Would be reviewing the rating with eventual visits)

Excellent food. Tons of variety. The pesto sandwich is so good I had to make another stop on the way to the airport. Veggie pizza, French fries, drinks, pastas… everything we’ve tried absolutely delicious. Ambience is wonderful, staff is kind and attentive. Excited to be back and explore more menu options. Worth the trip!

Excellent place with great ambience. Wait staff are friendly and accommodating. Good French and Mangalore food. Had vegetarian food multiple times and really enjoyed it. Best to reserve a table before going as it may get full quickly.

This place shares a nostalgic feeling of a old house. This place offers the best quality of the ingredients and has a great taste. Ambience is also good. Service speed is slow and we had to wait for 45mins before getting a seat. Staff here are friendly. The menu pricing was on the higher side but the taste of the food offset this extra price. The food portion is decent. A great experience overall.

In Kovai's posh neighborhood, in a calm and peaceful location is The French door. Such a cozy restaurant with a welcoming and charming ambience. We had a three course meal and everything tasted delicious, just melted in our mouth. Hands down the best steak tenderloin in CBE. I really wanted to have Focaccia but for some reason it wasn't made available. And the Orange ginger lemongrass punch was fabulous. Real authentic. Could be dearer dining overall but worth it. A real fine dining to go with your loved ones in the busy city. Special mention to Mr Ganesh. Knowledgeable, kind and very friendly. 10/10 experience. Bon appétit
